My employer asked me to create a customer order database that connects to a order history database contact database etcc. I'm a bit lost, they gave me a trial of access 2010 and asked me to come up with something before it runs out(30 days). They did this previously when they gave me a copy of adobe design premium and asked me to create new flyers and websites for them. Does anyone know where I could find good FREE tutorials for Access? I was given use of Lynda.com previously but they have cancelled the account.

3D TV

Just seen this story. Wondering if any1 knows were it is on.

Don’t know when it will get to South Africa, but Sky has confirmed that it will launch Sky 3D, Europe’s first 3D TV channel, with the Barclays Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday 3rd April.

Sky 3D will then show at least a further five Premier League games – to be announced – before the end of the current season (Sunday 9th May) and the Coca-Cola Football League Play-Off Finals from Wembley Stadium at the end of May, all live and all in 3D.

3DTV in Clubs and Pubs in Ireland

Interest across the United Kingdom and Ireland has been enthusiastic and over a thousand pubs and clubs across the UK and Ireland have already signed up for Sky 3D. More pubs and clubs are expected to sign up in the days and weeks ahead.

Outside of the live games, a showreel showcasing the best of Sky 3D – which will cover a wide range of different programming – will run on Sky 3D during selected hours of the day. This programming, which will run from launch, will also be available to residential customers who subscribe to Sky’s top channels and HD pack.

Sky has announced that it will launch Sky 3D, Europe's first dedicated 3D TV channel, this April.

As part of the final preparations for this ground-breaking launch, Sky will preview the new service with a world first this Sunday (January 31), becoming the first TV company anywhere to broadcast a live 3D TV sports event to a public audience.

The Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester United will be filmed in 3D and broadcast over the Sky platform to selected pubs around the UK and Ireland, with their customers becoming the first audiences anywhere in the world to experience live Premier League in 3D.

To support this landmark broadcast, the nine pubs - located in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin - have been kitted out specially with some of the first '3D Ready' TV sets to reach the UK and Ireland.

As 3D TVs become more widely available, Sky will roll out its 3D channel to hundreds of pubs from April, allowing football fans across the country the opportunity to experience a live Premier League match in 3D each week.

Once 3D TVs begin to reach the consumer market later this year, Sky will then make Sky 3D available to all Sky+HD customers, giving millions of people the opportunity to watch a wide range of content in 3D, including movies, sport, documentaries, entertainment, and the arts.

Sky 3D works with all existing Sky+HD boxes and will initially be introduced at no extra cost for customers. Sky 3D will also be compatible with all 3D Ready TVs coming to the UK and Ireland this year, including all models from Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic.

To make the 3D preview a reality, Sky Sports will produce two edits of its live coverage of Sunday's game at the Emirates Stadium, one for its HD channel feed and another dedicated to 3D.

Specially engineered 3D camera rigs will house Sky's high definition cameras, to provide comprehensive stereoscopic coverage from all angles.

The 3D broadcast will be supported by Sky's dedicated 3D production team and purpose built 3D outside broadcast truck, which will enable live mixing between camera positions, slow motion replays and the use of innovative 3D graphics. There will also be a dedicated commentary team to support the 3D edit.

Sky's commitment to launch a dedicated 3D TV channel follows a number of 3D 'firsts' achieved over the last couple of years.

In December 2008 Sky was the first UK broadcaster to demonstrate 3D through a domestic TV and then went on to broadcast an exclusive demonstration of a Keane gig in 3D live over its satellite platform and offering the UK's first ever live public demonstration of 3D - a recorded performance of Swan Lake by English National Ballet - at the Hay Festival.

Innovated
Jeremy Darroch, Sky's Chief Executive, said: "3D is without doubt one of the most talked-about developments in television for many years.

"Sky has always innovated to bring customers the best possible viewing experience, so we fully intend to take the lead in bringing the spectacle of 3D to the UK and Ireland."

Gerry O'Sullivan, Sky's Director of Strategic Product Development, said: "2010 is the year for 3D TV.

"People have already embraced 3D cinema and because Sky's 3D service uses the same kind of technology, we're confident there will be demand for sport, movies, concerts and drama in 3D.

"The good news is that all Sky+HD customers already have the set-top box they need to enjoy 3D, meaning they simply need to buy any new 3D TV, all of which will work seamlessly with Sky's ground breaking new service."

Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, added: "Sky Sports has a proud history of innovation, from the simple clock and scoreline in the comer of the screen through to high definition.

"It's fitting that we're pioneering this new, revolutionary development in broadcasting."

Looking to get a new TV into the house and seeing as I'm currently residing in it I said I'd do some research to try and find the best value for money online.

I've been looking into a few bits and pieces. I've been told that Samsung are up there with the best and I've found a few pieces that look reasonable, in particular:

PS3 region?

Just bought a PS3 - a 60GB one (I thought I knew what I was doing...)

Anyway, it turns out that it isnt from the pal region - so i was just wondering if there was any way to check which region it is from? Tried to play a ps2 god of war 2 on it but it told me to feck off with my pal game.

Buying a PS3

Dont get me wrong, I love my Xbox - its clean white lines remind me of the dreamcast and its unfair assassination by agents of the evil empire ('Et, tu Sonyus...') and there is something a little but thrilling about wondering whether it will self murder everytime you turn it on.

but theres a problem - Uncharted 2 is coming and it has just about the most awesome trailer ever and after that is Heavy Rain which, well i cant resist quantic dreams games - even if the nomad soul made no sense and fahrenheit - no actually fahrenheit was really cool...

so, i need a ps3.

any ideas how to procure one through means both legal and relatively cheap?

DVD Upscaling

I love my DVD collection and have no intention of totally abandoning them for Blu-ray - partly because I remain unconvinced that BD disks will really be around for much longer.

However, recently there has been a shift towards favouring BD releases with more special features and I cannot abide being screwed over for features (this is the very reason why I imported Region 1 DVDs for years).

So, in the interests of being faithful to DVD while embracing the high (ish) definition revolution - I have considered getting a Blu-ray player with DVD upscaling abilities.

My question is - does it make a real difference? I've begun to notice the relatively low resolution of my favourite films recently (since getting a HD-TV) and would love to give them a little high res TLC.

Regardless of the all the resolution hoo-hah - I do still think that its the quality of the movie which is most important and I fully expect to be watching my brilliant collection of DVDs for years to come.

strange days

I don't know if this is the place to air this but I felt it just had to be said. About 3 months ago, whilst getting some work done at the back of the house I noticed our black bin had huge bag in it. This was strange as it had been emptied earlier that day. I figured the guys doing the work put it in but they said they didn't. I resigned myself to the thought that some scab used my bin instead of paying the 8 lids to get their own one taken out when I noticed something about the bag. A familier logo was just visable.

Some lazy bastard dumped a commadore 64, complete with about 30 games into my bin. The fact that you can recycle all that shit for free really grates. Also the wish to hook it up and be dazzled by the 64k of raw power afforded by the system was strong but if I hook up another system to the tele my head will be displayed on a spike at the front of the house by herself.

Is this a common? Do people still have Atari 2600's and the like, lying in wait to spring into a neighbors bin when they are not looking? Do any of you remember what a commadore 64 is?....... Do you want one? :D

Has anyone had a play with one of these first hand? I get the impression the changes in light intensity look much harsher on the videos than they would in real life. It looks a bit silly from a distance but I'd say its quite involving when you are the one playing the game.
